La música en las películas: sincronizando lo creativo con lo legal

Navegando los aspectos creativos y legales de la música en el cine, el licenciado Antonio J. Sifre y el compositor reconocido Gerónimo Mercado dialogarán en esta charla acerca de la creación de música y su uso en las películas. La licenciada Maritere Ysern y Claudia S. Picó se unen a la conversación para aportar más información de interés para aquellos en la industria cinematográfica. PANELISTAS

Gerónimo Mercado is a Film Composer and Sound Artist, born in Spain from Puerto Rican parents. He graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston with a Dual Major in Film Scoring and Music Business & Management and holds a MFA in Sound Arts from Columbia University, NYC. His musical career started in Boston as front man of the spanish rock band "La Mosca" with two record releases, one produced by Kato Khandwala (Chemical Romance, Papa Roach). His Film Scoring credits began with the film "12 Hours" which won the Audience Award 2001 at the Tribeca Film Festival in NYC. His works continued with films like "Miente", the official Puerto Rican selection to the Oscars; "200 letters" starring Broadway star Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton), which also brought him a selection for best music at the Premios Platino (Iberoamerican “Oscars”).

Maritere Ysern is an intellectual property and entertainment attorney at The Sifre Group where she combines her two passions: law and film production. Ms. Ysern has more than 10 years of varied production experience, having worked in commercials, corporate and music videos, short and feature films, and television series, including as writer and director. In 2015 she won an Emmy for Screenwriting for her work in the Telemundo television series Incógnita. She has been a team mentor and guest lecturer at the annual short films festival “Ponte Los Cortos”, and is frequently invited to give filmmaking, production legal and copyright workshops.
